Wife got a Twitter earlier today saying that the Venom Movie was starting production or casting or something like that but evidently there is a Venom Movie in the works.....anyone else hear about this? When she told me, I was stumped because I didn't even know anything was even being talked about making a Venom Movie....

I heard about it a while back. But the whole thing was put on hold because of a licensing rights debate with the character. I guess they must have worked it out. I wonder if this is gonna be done by Sony Pictures, or whoever else was trying to lay claim to the character.

I'm pretty sure this movie is going to suck.. spin-offs rarely do well.

Hi, I'm here to be a prick and say, "Shouldn't this be under the movies thread?" Or since it's about a mysteriously unknown phantom movie it doesn't qualify?

Wolverine was great! But that's really the only one I can think of.

LOL Punisher....as I was getting ready to post it, I was wondering that myself, but was worried some people wouldn't see it and then I thought the same thing you just said: Since it really isn't out yet, does it belong in the Movie Thread? LOL I figured here was a good place as any.....LOL

I just watched the Wolverine Movie again yesterday....I can't say it sucked, but I can't say it was great either; I like most Comic Book related Movies just because I'm a huge fan and have always wanted to see my favorites become movies; Don't get me wrong.., the early Spider-man Movie (with the web-shooters out on his wrists and the wrinkly costume, sucked and so did the Captain America Movies...., but the more recent releases, I have DVD's of them all and watch them on a regular basis....yep, even Dare-Devil, Elektra, and the first Hulk movie....LOL

I don't see this movie being very good. The article I read made the comment that the maker's of this movie have changed the character of Venom from a villan to a hero because movies where the villan is the lead of the movie don't do well at the box office.Si comic fans are going to be treated with a different version of Venom than they are used too.Another thing, rarely do I like the idea of a cast change but if they have Topher Grace playing Venom again then theat will cement the movie sucking.Grace is nowhere near a leading man plus his Venom from Spidey 3 was so horrid that it was almost unwatchable.

^ Venom's been a hero in the comics, too. So it's really not a stretch at all.

Venom was only made a hero in the 1990s to justify him getting his own title. Same with Sabretooth. Back then, the Comic Code forbid straight-up villains from starring in their own comic.

And no, I can't explain how DC gave Joker his own title in the 70s. I'm just relaying how the Code was originally written up back in the day.

No way. Venom always had a sense of right and wrong, it was just twisted. He always was about saving the "innocents". He just wanted to kill Spider-Man, too. It's understandable. I'm mostly a good guy, but then I really want to kill my higher up boss.

But that Venom no longer exists. That was Eddie Brock & the symbiote. The new owner of the living suit is Mac Gargan, who has no sense of right and wrong. That is why Venom is pure evil, now.

Thanks for the update on Venom. When did the Symbiote leave Venom and bond with this other guy? I suppose I would know if I were to actually read the new releases I get. Hard to do when I work constantly, have a family, and spend the other time trying to upload back issues to sell. I will never run out of stuff to read when I retire, thoughBig Grin .

And I can't believe Venom's host is named "Mac". Hopefully he never works as a gas station attendant. The first guy to say "fill 'er up, Mac" is done for.D'oh

FYI, Mac Gargan was the Scorpion before becoming Venom.

He's the dude JJJ had that one Doctor(whose name is eluding me right now) experiment on him to get him to kill Spidey back in the day.

To answer the when did it happen question: Eddie Brock was dying of cancer. It was revealed that he had the cancer when the symbiote orginally bonded to him (but we as readers never knew this), and that it was the symbiote keeping him alive much longer than he should have been alive. Once he became too weak despite the symbiote's efforts, the symbiote just left him to find a better host. Eddie Brock was dying in a hospital after that, but then a mysterious benefactor healed him and gave him his now white symbiote and is known as Anti-Venom, with the same powers of Venom, except no supposed mental influence over him and this symbiote has the ability to heal people. The Venom symbiote then went and bonded with Mac Gargan because he shared the hate of Spider-Man and was strong already thanks to the Scorpion enhanced strength.

To this 'news story' I say "Whatever".

I really don't give a rat's arse whether they do this movie or not.
If they don't then I'm not going to cry about it. But if they do make it, then sure, that's fine.. they can waste all the money on it they want, no skin off my back.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFT.
