Just curious what everyone collects or looks for when browsing shops here. I try to keep my shelves to a minimum and only create folders for major/main titles but curious what others look for here.
Is it easier for the buyer to navigate a shop or do we all just enjoy browsing through the pages to find what we are looking for?

I don't browse. Browsing here is pointless. I look for specific titles in the search engine, and them specific issues.

Personally, I only think that there are a small number of reasons to have shelves. "Variant Covers" maybe. Or a Clearance shelf. I mean, if I want a Spider-Man book, I'll jut search for Spider-Man, or Amazing or Spectacular or whatever,

Edit: I just looked at your store shelves, and I guess ... I think it would be better if there was a way to have more views on a page. Because I looked at your AWESOME covers, and there are 48 pages of books. I'm not gonna browse through 48 pages of covers to see if my idea of AWESOME and your idea of AWESOME is the same.

Also, and I don't know if this is possible or not, but I'd like to have the shelves more organized. Either alphabetically, or at least grouped together. I don't know if this is something you can do with shelves, or if they are just there in whatever order you happen to create them.

Just my .02

Thanks, yeah being able to add/edit them in bulk would be "Awesome". Was just trying to find ways to make it easier for customers to navigate through a certain store if they're already buying from a seller. Maybe its just me, but I try to maximize the shipping so when I find one book I need/want, I tend to browse that shops inventory for more. When I see 1k pages to navigate, I stick to shelves that may catch my interest instead.

Usually the first thing I click on in a store is "On My Wishlist".

If I need to bulk up an order, or I'm starting a new collecting project, I like to use the search function that's in the top of the forums here, and also on most store pages:

Unfortunately, it appears to be slowing fading from the site, and doesn't always provide accurate results anymore.

Well, I hate to contradict you but just because it is pointless to you doesn't mean that's the case for everyone. I have had numerous people tell me that they enjoy browsing my shelves. Wish List is great but a lot of times you might not know that you want something until you see it. Daydreaming

I have also noticed buyers hitting a certain shelf that I'm pretty sure wasn't a coincidence. Just a week or so ago someone picked up a sizeable number of books from Minis, Digests and Ashcans. Another time recently it was Aircel, yet another time it was Prestige. Happens all the time. I'll be like "Wow, somebody just raided my Romance Shelf!". Big Hug

Before I added my Obscure Indy shelves that stuff would just sit there unsold but since I added them people pick up the oddities on a regular basis.

I will agree with BlueMoon that the shelves should be relatively small. Sometimes it can't be helped but fewer pages to go through makes it easier to browse.

With the software you could organize shelves by click and drag but since the update it doesn't appear to be possible. That is something that I and others have brought up with Joe and I'm hoping that soon we will be able to do that again.

One last thought, I once asked a question here about whether I should list a bunch of Archie Comics and was told by many that it was a waste of time and no one would buy them. Well, I did anyway and out of the 5 long boxes I listed initially I have just over one full one left. So it's good to get outside perspective but you should also go with your gut.

Wish you the best, Alex!

You are correct, Howie. FOR ME, browsing the stores here is pointless. I thought the FOR ME was implied, but I guess not. It should also be noted that, when I used to attend shows, I hated browsing. I hate going through .50 and dollar boxes. I would have, you guessed it, a Wishlist and I'd search for specific books or specific titles. So...

We tried the whole shelf thing at one time. Didn't seem to do anything for us because, again, you want Superman it's a whole lot easier to search for Superman than to look through a 100-page DC shelf. FOR ME.

And I'm certainly not going to attempt to do anything with shelves now that they've nerfed the site and made it a gigantic PITA to do anything.

But if it works for you, GREAT. :) And congrats on the Archie! I had a customer bring in 2-3 long boxes of comic porn a while ago, and we made a killing of that here. LOL.

I shop by clicking my wishlist 1st, then sort by price.

I start with the cheap stuff 1st and work my way up.

Once I'm done with my wishlist, then I go back to all the inventory in the store and then sort by price again and buy stuff until I reach the free shipping minimum if the seller offers that,
