Got this idea from another thread here on CCL.What celebrities can you recall seeing making an appearance in a comic book? From a cameo to starring throughout the whole book.

President Reagan and then Vice President Bush appeared in the Legends crossover by DC. Reagan actually played a rather signifigant role in the story.Bush was just in the background in some panels.

Jay Leno made a cameo appearance in an issue of Amazing Spider-Man.

President Obama has been in a ton of books by multiple publishers. From Savage Dragon at Image,Thunderbolts and Amazing Spider-Man at Marvel,to some books that are he is the main hero by independent publishers.

So who else can anyone recall seeing in a comic book?

Michael "Meathead" Stivick appeared in issue #186 of the ASM.

Our good president Obama appeared in ASM #583.

Ronald Reagan has a very cool cameo in issue #9 of Jon Sable: Freelance. He also appears in one of the JR jr issues of Uncanny X-Men.

John Byrne appears in Fantastic Four #262. Does that count? If so, Lee and Kirby have made numerous appearances in their books.

Letterman in Avengers 239 and Not Ready for Prime Time players (Early SNL cast) in Marvel Team-Up 74 come to mind quickly. Also, Little Al of the FBI (a 50s anti communist character) looked alot like Reagan did at the time.

Reagan starred in his own book in the late 80s.

President Kennedy took part in a Superman story. He actually disguised himself as Clark Kent to help save Superman's secret identity. Superman said he knew he could trust the president with his secret. If I remember correctly the story came out at about the time of Kennedy's assassination and many comic geeks theorized that Superman had Kennedy killed to preserve his secret.

I just looked it up, the issue was Action 309 from 2/1964. It went on sale in December of 1963. Kennedy died on 11/22 1963.

JFK & Jackie also appeared in Action 285.

Ronald Reagan had a key role in Rom #53, where he pretty much publicly backs Rom's fight against the Wraiths. Drawn very realistically by Bill Sienkiewicz.

President Bush II appeared with pretty much his whole cabinet (Condi, Cheney, etc) in the first issues of Marvel Universe: The End.

Uri Gellar made a controversial appearance in Daredevil #134. Stan Lee was pressing Marvel to have him appear in a book, and there was some backlash since some believed Uri Gellar was a con artist.

Most US presidents (since Johnson) have made appearances in at least one issue of the Avengers.

There's at least one issue of X-Men, where the creative team appears, talking about the on going story line, ending with John Byrne yelling "Shut up and run Chris!"

Yep, it’s Ronald Reagan again - appeared in 19 issues of 2000AD (in the Strontium Dog series) between issues 505 & 529 (here’s his 2 cover appearances during that period).

Hitler appeared in 5 issues of 2000AD (again in the Strontium dog series) between issues 182 & 188.

Prince Charles appeared in issue 13 of 2000AD. I’m sure there have been other famous people that have appeared in 2000AD over the years but I can’t think of any others off the top of my head.

Although not really celebrities, political or royal figures (or even real for that matter) I thought the following deserved a mention. Ronald McDonald, The Burger King, Jolly Green Giant, Col. Sanders, Mr Peanut, Michelin Man and Speedy (Alka Seltzer) amoungst others appeared in the Judge Dredd story arc The Cursed Earth (specifically issues 71, 72, 77 & 78 of 2000AD). None were shown in a favourable light and an agreement was made that these episodes could never be reprinted.

Col. Sanders is...er ..was..a real person. He looked just his drawn picture that been part of KFC's logos over the years. Here is some useless knowledge in case you didn't know.Dave Thomas (founder of Wendy's resturant chain) is the one who came up with the idea for the colonel's face to be part of the logo.

Yep, Harland Sanders, honorary Kentucky Colonel.

The story goes he opened a gas station/diner during the great depression, but the diner section got most of the business because of his succulent fried chicken. So he expanded it into a full sized restaurant, and the rest is deep-fried history.

WhoopsBlush Yeah, I did know that - just got a little carried away when I was going through my issues picking out the advertising icons that I recognized - too much rush and not enough accuracyLaughing

Anybody remember Nixon appearing in the "Secret Empire" story in Captain
America 172-176 (Vol 1). Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the leader of this
evil "Secret Empire" took off his hood to reveal Nixon. Then in #176
Cap resigns. At any rate, Cap's disallusionment with the country was
reflecting the watergate scandle of the time. That was a good story.
